Every part of the Miyako Resin experience takes place indoors, so the weather never gets in the way. Whether it is the rainy season, the days around a typhoon, or a sudden downpour, you can take part as planned. The days you cannot get in the water are exactly when you can take the colour of the Miyako sea home as an artwork.
Same-day booking is fine if a slot is open
Woke up to rain? Boat tour cancelled because of rough seas? We accept same-day reservations. Sessions start at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00, and we are open 10:00-17:00, every day of the year. Getting here on a rainy day, and parking
We are about a 5-minute drive from Miyako Airport, and about 15 minutes from the Shigira resort area. We do not offer a shuttle service, so please come by rental car or taxi. There is free parking for 10 cars right beside the studio, so you will barely get wet on the way in. Open during typhoons, unless the power is out
Summer and autumn are typhoon season in Miyakojima, but Miyako Resin stays open as usual as long as the power is on. The studio is indoors, so even strong wind and rain do not affect the experience itself. A power outage does stop us from working, so on days when a typhoon is close, please call ahead to confirm.
Families with children are our most common rainy-day guests
In practice, families with small children are the guests who most often come to us on rainy days. Everything is indoors, there is no age limit, and it gives you somewhere to go when beach plans fall through. Our staff support you throughout, so even a first-time child can finish a piece.
Easy to fit into spare time on your trip
All materials and tools are provided, so you can come empty-handed. Once your piece has dried you can collect it at the studio, or we can ship it to you (shipping is free). It fits neatly into a gap between sightseeing or before a flight.
Miyakojima weather and your rainy-day plan
The rainy season in Okinawa and Miyakojima runs roughly from May to June, and typhoon season from summer into autumn. Sea activities depend on the weather and swell, but resin art is entirely indoors, so you do not have to move your plans when the forecast turns. Many guests use it as a buffer in their itinerary: resin art while the weather is uncertain in the morning, then the beach in the afternoon if it clears.
